Goenawan Mohamad, 76, has been a key player in shaping Indonesia's media landscape, from the founding of Tempo magazine and its surrogate D&R during the years of Tempo's shuttering, to the most unlikely setting up of the English-language The Jakarta Post by four of the country's most bitter media rivals. He is co-founder and chairman of the influential Tempo magazine, Indonesia's most respected current affairs weekly which is pubished in two language editions.

Robo-journalism in Japan: newspaper uses AI to create article summaries
The Shinano Mainichi Shimbun teamed up with Fujitsu, Japan's largest IT services company to create the software based on technology developed by Fujitsu Laboratories. Staff at the broadsheet have been producing summaries manually, a task that takes up to five minutes per article. The software creates summaries instantly and with greater accuracy than a different summarizing method that begins with the lead and stops when the word limit is reached, according to Fujitsu.
