NMG, which has 17 publications serving Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda, has always endeavored to be at the forefront of technology. In 1970, it upgraded its printing press to one of the most modern in Africa and has since worked to take advantage of new technologies and reach to markets, including digital.

NMG has been a Newscycle customer since 2000, and the move to Newscycle’s Content and Advertising reflects its interest in taking advantage of the best software platforms to streamline operations.

“They were on older infrastructure with our DTI software, so Newscycle was a natural choice to investigate as a replacement option,” said Mogens Bendtsen, EMEA project manager for Newscycle. “They investigated other vendors, but in the end, they were so happy with Newscycle, they decided to continue the excellent cooperation with us.”

The cooperation carried into this project as well, with a Newscycle team visiting NMG sites four times over the course of the project. As a result, the work of converting all the NMG systems to the new software platforms took only four and a half months, a reflection on the dedication of the Newscycle project team and the enthusiastic teamwork by everyone involved in Newscycle and NMG. The first newspaper created using the new system went out June 11.

NMG is already reaping the benefits of the upgrade. “NMG now has a more efficient workflow with Content Planner, and the NCS Lite Editor/Reporter client removed the need for InCopy. They also have their multimedia advertising and CRM system on a responsive browser via SalesLink and can use it from any mobile device, allowing for reporting and invoicing in one common database,” Bendtsen said.
