Oosterhout, 21 November 2019 – A state-of-the-art, innovative image-based cut-off control system that will continue to be supported in the coming years. That is what Q.I. Press Controls (QIPC), the Dutch specialist for measurement and control systems for the printing industry, supplies to the Swiss printing company Centre d'Impression Lausanne, part of the Tamedia group. The printing company had a cut-off control system from the press manufacturer, but this is no longer supported.

Investing in the future of print
The graphic industry is still in full swing. Some parties are shifting their focus, others are turning their backs on the industry and yet others are continuing to invest heavily in innovation and development. QIPC's measurement and control systems have more than proven their worth in terms of cost savings, efficiency and quality improvements. "And we will continue to invest in the printing industry in the future," said Harold Drinhuyzen, Area Sales Manager at QIPC. "We believe in the future of print."

Total solution
Tamedia also believes in the future of print and strives for a competitive and modern press fleet. We have already invested in an IDS-3D colour control system from QIPC. Now it has been decided to add the mRC-3D cut-off control system to the WIFAG OF371 press. Both systems will operate from the same desk. Jean-François Ladret, Manager Press Department CIL Lausanne: "The QIPC offer was attractive because of the total solution that integrates colour management, register, fan-out and cut-off control. The company also has a very good reputation and we are familiar with their systems."

Support remains
There was some urgency in the decision to invest in a new cut-off control system for Tamedia. The original system of the press manufacturer is no longer supported. "Printing companies that work with systems that are no longer supported have a problem," says Harold Drinhuyzen. "Maybe not while the systems are still running flawlessly, but when spare parts are needed or problems occur. Therefore, users of such systems will have to look for alternatives. We have a very competitive system which we will continue to support in the coming years. This makes QIPC a very good alternative for printing companies that are losing support for their press automation."

High customer satisfaction
That is what Tamedia thought as well. Thanks to QIPC's mRC-3D system, the Swiss media group continues to meet the high quality requirements of its advertisers. "With the support of QIPC, we expect to be able to improve and stabilise our register, colour and cut-off control quality at a higher level. Overall, we expect a high level of customer satisfaction thanks to the overall improvements to our systems."
