The Board of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), meeting in Glasgow, Scotland on 3rd June, 2019 during the 71st World News Media Congress, 26th World Editors Forum, and 3rd Women in News Summit, calls on the new leaders and their respective administrations in Mexico and Brazil to take urgent, resolute action to end the cycle of violence that continues to target the profession of journalism and make decisive steps in prioritising the safety and security of journalists.

El Directorio de la Asociación Mundial de Periódicos y Editores de Noticias (WAN-IFRA), habiéndose reunido en Estoril, Cascais, Portugal el 6 de junio del 2018 durante el 70° Congreso Mundial de Medios Informativos, reitera su llamado a las autoridades mexicanas a tomar acciones urgentes y concretas para poner fin al ciclo de violencia que continúa amenazando al periodismo en el país e incita al gobierno entrante a priorizar la seguridad y salvaguarda de los periodistas en todo el territorio nacional.

The Board of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), meeting in Estoril, Cascais, Portugal on 6th June 2017, on the occasion of the 70th World News Media Congress, has called on the government of President Rodrigo Duterte in the Philippines to cease its attacks on online news site, Rappler, and to do more to discourage supporters from threatening the safety and security of its journalists, both online and off.
