Jose Panachipuram is the Associate Editor of Malayala Manorama, one of the largest circulated regional language dailies in India, with 22.32 lakhs copies a day. Jose heads the editorial operations of the newspaper from its headquarters at Kottayam, Kerala.
He won the National Award for Best Newspaper design in 1980 at the age of 29. He was associated with the redesign of the newspaper by Peter Lim in 1993, Mario Garcia in 2004 and Javier Errea in 2012 . In 2009 he redesigned three of the Manorama group's publications on his own.
A well known author, he has published around 30 books which includes one on newspaper design ‘PATHRAKALPANA’, perhaps the only book of its kind in Malayalam language. He is a two-time winner of the Sahitya Academy Award, first for humour and then for the best novel.
