Executive Editor Neil Budde is on his second tour of duty at The Courier-Journal, returning after 27 years leading various pioneering digital publishing initiatives. He was founding editor and publisher of The Wall Street Journal Online and later vice president and editor in chief at Yahoo! News. As president of DailyMe he helped build a technology platform for dynamic personalization of news content. He most recently was founding CEO of AxisPhilly, a non-profit news organization recognized by the Online News Association with its General Excellence award after only five months of operation. At the C-J from 1978-86, Budde was a copy editor, associate editor of the Sunday magazine and assistant business editor.  Budde earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Western Kentucky University and an MBA from the University of Louisville.  He is an inductee into the Hall of Distinguished Alumni at WKU and an inductee into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame. He is treasurer and board member of the News Literacy Project and has served on the boards of the Online News Association and the First Amendment Coalition.
