Summary

With its pixel structure, frequency modulated (FM) screening is much closer to digital full-page output than the use of modern imagesetters to obtain an approximation of the conventional screen dot . It is now generally acknowledged that frequency modulated screening significantly improves the reproduction of details as well as enabling the imaging time to be reduced due to smaller files.
