Summary

A newspaper rotary offset press is always a major investment for every printer. This requires planning. The specifying phase starts quite often up to 3 - 5 years in advance. The whole project will be concluded when the press is running with the acceptance test run to check that the performance of the press and the achievable quality are within the limits that have been agreed earlier between the press manufacturer and the printer. The aim of this Special Report is to give guidelines how commissioning and the performance and quality acceptance test should be carried out. This report does not contain all details, as all presses are different with regard to configurations and other arrangements. The numerical values with their respective tolerances, given in this report, are based on experiences from many types of offset rotary presses. They may serve as examples when the actual values for the installation in question will be agreed upon by the contract partners. All tolerances given in this report can vary in both directions, either towards plus or minus. > Example: A maximum deviation of 0.05 with a target value of 0.9 gives values between 0.85 and 0.95.
