The World Printers Forum (WPF) is an organisation of newspaper printers and suppliers within WAN-IFRA. Its objective is to encourage innovation and productivity as well as product development that can be instrumental for publishers to exploit future oriented news media products. It promotes the power of print and the sustainability of print production.

The business provides information and entertainment for millions of consumers in numerous European countries. In fact, in both Finland and the Netherlands, Sanoma is the leading media concern, with a wide presence across a diversity of platforms. Sanomala is the printing plant based in Finland in the city Vantaa. The age of the current manroland Colorman press would suggest that the machine is in need of a retrofit with respect to its operating and control systems. The plant aims to modernise the press so that future costs can be minimised whilst optimum levels of support can be maintained. 2015-09-29 10:37Kinna, 24 September, 2015 –Senner Medien GmbH & Co. KG, located in Nürtingen in southern part of Germany placed an order with DCOS at WPE 2013 for a compete retrofit of the drive system and PECOM control system on its GEOMAN press. Following a viability study of the press, confirming the press being in good mechanical condition, Senner Medien came to the decision to prolong the life time of its manroland press by a complete electrical retrofit. 2015-09-29 10:29Woodridge, 2015, September 24th - Tensor International completes installation of its new T460 heatset press at Todo Para Impresiones in Mexico City. The T460 replaces the T500 which was originally introduced in 2006. The T460 new design offers the latest in automation and quality control features. The tower comes standard with unit shaftless drive, eleven roller Ink train (including three ink form rollers), remote ink control including ink presetting and closed loop register. Other auxiliaries included with the press is a gas dryer, plow folder and ribbon deck for producing a 12 page tabloid or a 6 page broadsheet. Read more ...

2015-09-21 10:4721.09.2015 – Following an intensive selection process Beijing Daily Group, a traditional publishing house in the heart of Beijing with a large printing centre on the edge of the Chinese capital, decided to continue its partnership with Koenig & Bauer (KBA). A KBA Comet installed there in 2010 will be extended by two printing towers and two folders in the first half of 2016. The delivery package also includes adjusting the production capabilities of the existing Comet and a new mailroom system for the entire plant. This recent investment boosts the media group’s production flexibility and efficiency with in-house and third-party products while at the same time lightening the workload of an older press from another manufacturer. The International Color Quality Club is the only worldwide printing quality competition for newspapers and magazines. Its goal is to improve the quality of reproduction and printing in production, while also increasing competitiveness as well as training and motivating all personnel.

The Materials Management Database project was launched as a spinoff of the Newsprint and Newsink Guide. Today it is used by printers, pressroom foremen and technical management as an information source for facts and advice for dealing with the materials used in producing newspapers. Among other informaton you find the specification of the WAN-IFRA Bar Code for paper reels in this online database. Most of the entries in the database originate from the members of the Material Management Committee; some come from outside sources (as marked), after review and approval by the committee. This database is continually being updated and expanded. New entries will be marked with a label in red type.
