Rivet Presse Edition, a long-established contract printing operation in Limoges (France), has decided to purchase two JetStream 4300 printing lines developed by Océ (ink-jet printing) and manroland (finishing) in collaboration with the printing company itself.

Christian Sirieix, Managing Director of Rivet Presse Edition

Christian Sirieix, Managing Director of Rivet Presse Edition, has the following to say about this decision: "We cooperated closely with manroland to develop a high-speed folder capable of processing newspapers with different formats and page counts inline. (…) We selected Océ mainly on the basis of that company's partnership with manroland that started in 2011. Then manroland was the sole provider (thanks to our collaboration) of a serious finishing solution for newspapers offering a speed of 300 metres per minute. The format flexibility is part of a project to allow newspapers of various formats to be packaged in one and the same bundle."

Christian Sirieix describes the business model as follows: "As a contribution towards safeguarding the future of newspapers, we decided for a dual model. The production of daily newspapers must be considered under the aspect of reduced margins, so that we are launching this project with the aid of several newspapers. The financial balance will be achieved from building up a ‚daily business‘ by serving other customers from the publishing sector. These players are at present seeking possibilities to output print products with variable data. A market study will be completed shortly and a number of target sectors have been identified already."
