Gruner + Jahr is reported to be considering shutting down the loss-making Financial Times Deutschland. The magazines Impulse and Börse Online are also reported to be up for sale. G+J stated (on 21.11.12) that no definitive decision has been taken concerning the future of the business publications.

Since the bankruptcy of the Frankfurter Rundschau became known, there has been renewed speculation that the FTD might be shut down in the near future. The business newspaper has supposedly recorded losses from the time of its launch on to the market in 2000.

In a news item on Horizont.net it was stated: "The supervisory board of what is still Europe's largest magazine publishing house, Gruner + Jahr (G+J), on Wednesday, as expected, approved management plans to divest G+J of three of its four business publications."  G+J spokesperson Claus-Peter Schrack is quoted who told dpa on Wednesday evening that no final decision had been made by management, stating that "discussions concerning a potential sale of the FTD continue."
