The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), has called on the Turkish government to stop jailing journalists and to guarantee freedom of the press in Turkey, which imprisons more journalists than any country in the world.
The WAN-IFRA Board issues Press Freedom Resolutions to highlight concerns regarding freedom of expression worldwide, and as a call to action from the global newspaper industry to protect press freedom.
WAN-IFRA has endorsed IPI General Assembly Resolutions calling on the Mexican Federal government to protect journalists and end impunity, and the Ethiopian government to stop using anti-terror laws to jail journalists.
As the world's oldest existing press freedom organisation, WAN-IFRA plays an integral role in advocating for freedom of expression within the international community.
