Im Bogenoffsetwerk Radebeul (KBA-Sheetfed Solutions, KBA-Industrial Solutions) werden 28 und im Stammwerk Würzburg (KBA-Digital & Web Solutions, KBA-NotaSys, KBA-Industrial Solutions) 38 Nachwuchskräfte intensiv in Theorie und Praxis auf das Berufsleben vorbereitet. Bei den Tochtergesellschaften in Bad Oeynhausen (KBA-Kammann), Frankenthal (Albert-Frankenthal), Mödling bei Wien (KBA-Mödling), Stuttgart (KBA-MetalPrint) und Veitshöchheim (KBA-Metronic) starten 24 Auszubildende. Die Mechatroniker und Industriemechaniker der KBA-Metronic erwerben in der staatlich anerkannten KBA-Werkberufsschule in Würzburg ihr berufliches Wissen. Weitere Unternehmen aus dem Umland nutzen die anerkannt hohe Qualität der KBA-Ausbildungsstätten in Würzburg und Radebeul für die Ausbildung ihres Fachkräftenachwuchses. Press Controls (QIPC) automation system has been installed on one of the printing presses at the Guangxi Daily. The Chinese media group decided to invest in an mRC-3D system for colour register control as part of an expansion on a tower for a Goss Magnum 65 press in Nanning. “Guangxi Daily is a satisfied client who knows exactly what it’s getting from us”, was the message. Die Libra VP ersetzte in Kodaks Druckplattensortiment die VioletNews Gold Platte. Statt mit herkömmlichem Plattenentwickler und Regenerat erfolgt die Verarbeitung der Libra VP mit einer Auswaschlösung mit niedrigem pH-Wert. Dabei kann der Anwender zwischen einem reinen Einbad-Entschichtungsprozess oder der vereinfachten konventionellen Verarbeitung in der Auswaschlösung, gefolgt von einem Spül- und Gummierschritt, wählen. The trend toward consolidation of newspaper printing centres is slowly coming to a halt, says consultant Sabine Sirach. After all, for printed daily newspapers, there are physical limitations to the distribution distances that can be covered while still being up-to-date and relevant.

The newspaper industry is under pressure globally. While in the West, decline of the newspaper has been rapid, in the East, newspapers will probably survive for longer. However, there are several pressures on the newspaper industry in the East as well – competition from digital readership, increasing input costs, reducing advertising spends, and so on. In such a scenario, it is important for newspaper industry players to collaborate to improve internal operational efficiencies across the industry. Through such an effort the overall industry will stand to benefit. With this objective in mind, an industry-wide benchmarking exercise was carried out to identify specific improvement opportunities across players. The result has been extremely encouraging. This report details out the methodology and findings of this benchmarking exercise.
