2019-05-08 10:35Kinna, May 8, 2019 – Engle Printing Company, Inc (EPC,) a family owned printing company located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, has ordered a second CRC4 closed loop density / register control system from DCOS Automation. The CRC4 system will be installed on a second Tensor T400BE press with a configuration of four towers and one folder replacing the existing WPC register system. For ink density control, DCOS will integrate the CRC4 camera system with the existing Perretta remote inkers-The second press order came only a month after completion of the initial installation. 2019-05-03 09:44Würzburg, 3 May 2019 – 2019 started well for the Koenig & Bauer group, posting a double-digit increase in order intake in the first quarter year-over-year to €276.4m. This strong growth, which exceeded the industry average, was underpinned by significantly more orders for services and for folding carton, direct glass and security printing presses. At €230.7m, revenue exceeded the previous year's figure by 6.2%. EBIT was still slightly in negative territory due to the low revenue level, coming to –€2.8m despite high market-entry and growth-related expenses, and was thus not far off the previous year’s figure of –€1.9m. At –€4.9m, group net earnings in the first quarter of 2019 translates into earnings per share of –€0.30. Read more ...

2019-04-30 12:49Montréal, April 30, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ – Resolute Forest Products Inc. (NYSE: RFP) (TSX: RFP) today reported net income for the quarter ended March 31, 2019, of $42 million, or $0.45 per diluted share, compared to $10 million, or $0.11 per diluted share, in the same period in 2018. Sales were $795 million in the quarter, a decrease of $79 million from the year-ago period. The first quarter of 2018 included sales from the Catawba (South Carolina) and Fairmont (West Virginia) facilities, sold in the fourth quarter of 2018. Excluding special items, the company reported net income of $30 million, or $0.32 per diluted share, compared to $17 million, or $0.18 per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2018. Read more ...

The newspaper industry is under pressure globally. While in the West, decline of the newspaper has been rapid, in the East, newspapers will probably survive for longer. However, there are several pressures on the newspaper industry in the East as well – competition from digital readership, increasing input costs, reducing advertising spends, and so on. In such a scenario, it is important for newspaper industry players to collaborate to improve internal operational efficiencies across the industry. Through such an effort the overall industry will stand to benefit. With this objective in mind, an industry-wide benchmarking exercise was carried out to identify specific improvement opportunities across players. The result has been extremely encouraging. This report details out the methodology and findings of this benchmarking exercise.
