    24.01.2018 – With the signing of the contract for a syndicated credit facility, Koenig & Bauer has completed a further step in its goal of reinforcing its stability and financial strength. At the same time, the printing press manufacturer is widening its finan-cial scope for stepping up its profitable growth and for utilising strategic options. In addition to a guarantee facility of €200m, the syndicated finance includes a revolving cash credit facility of €150m with an option to increase it by €50m. The facilities have a term of five years plus two one-year renewal options up until December 2024. The group-wide financing facility also entails local operating credit lines at various subsidiaries.     January 23, 2018 – manroland web systems and China National Complete Plant Import & Export Corporation Limited (Complant) signed a contract for in total 9 highly automated Uniset newspaper press lines for the Cuban governmental newspaper Granma. The new equipment is part of a strategic investment project for Cuba. The Uniset presses will be installed in the cities of Havana, Holguin and Santa Clara where they will produce, besides the major Cuban newspaper “Granma”, other newspaper products and books.     Oosterhout, 17 January 2018 – Q.I. Press Controls (QIPC) continues to thrive on the Indian print market. The Dutch specialist in measurement and control systems for the web offset market recently received five new orders from printing concerns in the Kolkata region of West Bengal: CDC Printers; Sristi Graphic (two separate orders); Darpan Conclave; and NAP Printers.     09.01.2018 – The challenges increase, not only for the deinkers among paper mills – it becomes more and more difficult to produce new graphic paper from paper for recycling at economically reasonable conditions. Rising prices for paper for recycling increase the costs, at the same time the availability of graphic paper is going down – people read less newspapers, the newspapers become thinner due to less advertising, and the paper collected for recycling contains more and more packaging. The municipalities sometimes take advantage of new legislation to discourage locally competing selective collectors who deliver especially preferred quality. Concerned about the quantity of their supplies it becomes more and more difficult for the paper mills to keep up their requirements for high quality. A helpful aspect is the increasing importance of ecolabels such as the Blue Angel or the EU Ecolabel for printed products, for which also the removability of printing inks has to be proven.
