2017-03-22 12:42Würzburg, 22.03.2017 – Backed by a significant increase in revenue and profit, the Koenig & Bauer group largely achieved or even exceeded the medium-term targets that it had issued at the beginning of 2015 with unprecedently high margins in 2016. “The profitable growth was generated in existing and new packaging markets, from industrial applications in digital web printing and the continued expansion of service business – despite the absence of any macroeconomic support,” said CEO Claus Bolza-Schünemann. “With all segments operating profitably, we were able to achieve a further goal,” added CFO Dr Mathias Dähn. “After a decade of declining revenue and unsatisfactory margins, we want our shareholders to receive a fair portion of this success. Accordingly, the management board and the supervisory board will be asking the shareholders to approve a dividend of €0.50 per share at the annual general meeting on 23 May 2017.” Read more ...

2017-03-16 14:39Regensburg, 08.03.2017 – The German software publisher, OneVision Software, will shortly be launching a new release of its prepress workflow software Asura. With the launch of this new version, Asura Family 17.1, OneVision Software will offer its customers the option of expanding their prepress workflows with a trapping module. Two different trapping options have been developed for newspaper publishers as well as offset and digital printers that enable printing without unsightly white spaces. With PDF trapping, the Asura plugin PlugCOMMERCIAL-PRINTin is used to generate an additional layer to the original file, which allows the customer to validate the trapping result as needed and, if required, to make manual adjustments. With In-RIP Trapping, trapping takes place during halftone printing, which is performed using the Asura plugin PlugRASTER-HDin and is thus incorporated into the prepress workflow. Read more ...

2017-03-14 13:03Düsseldorf, 14. The newspaper industry is under pressure globally. While in the West, decline of the newspaper has been rapid, in the East, newspapers will probably survive for longer. However, there are several pressures on the newspaper industry in the East as well – competition from digital readership, increasing input costs, reducing advertising spends, and so on. In such a scenario, it is important for newspaper industry players to collaborate to improve internal operational efficiencies across the industry. Through such an effort the overall industry will stand to benefit. With this objective in mind, an industry-wide benchmarking exercise was carried out to identify specific improvement opportunities across players. The result has been extremely encouraging. This report details out the methodology and findings of this benchmarking exercise.
